TransLink, Inc. uses state-of-the-art logistics equipment, storage / laydown facilities, and innovative 'Delivery-On-Demand' processes to efficiently move wind turbine blades, towers, and other components by rail or truck, from manufacturer, to laydown/storage facilities throughout the USA, to windfarm sites throughout North America.
TransLink's unique equipment -- including the 'Blade Train Universal Blade Transportation System.'-- , logistics planning and process saves time, labor, and cost, while increasing safety and minimizing component damage. Delivery-On-Demand significantly decreases the total cost of delivery and construction of mechanically-complete wind turbine generators (MC-WTGs) on wind farms throughout North America.
This train video shows how TransLink, Inc successfully completed design, fabrication and testing of TransLink, Inc's Universal Blade Transportation System, featuring a cradle and pivot design. As the video shows, this design allows the Blade Train to negotiate turns at well above the 12% maximum curve found in North American rail systems.
Unlike other systems, TransLink's Universal Blade Transportation System is designed for rail shipment of all WTG blades -- even on the same train -- regardless of manufacturer. This can include blades longer than 65 meters in length.
Testing was conducted on a 45.3 meter curved blade and we expect it to clear 95% of North American rail destinations. The test results exceeded our expectations in both blade protection and rail clearance dimensions.
